Senior Embedded Systems Consultant

Phil Wakely is Director and Founder of Edenprime, and has 30 years of experience working within the wireless, multimedia and security industries as a Consultant and Principal Engineer. Prior to founding Edenprime, Phil initially worked for British Telecom Labs on the development and implementation of real-time digital signal processing algorithms for speech and telephony applications, and then for many years worked for leading Cambridge consultancies (Scientific Generics, Symbionics) taking lead technical roles on development of embedded architectures, devices and systems.

Phil’s key skills include System Architecture and Design, Cryptography and Secure System design, DSP and algorithm design, Real Time Embedded Software development, and highly numerical implementation work. Phil uses his creativity, problem solving skills and experience with a broad range of technologies to define system requirements and develop architectures and designs to meet end-user needs with a commercially realistic approach.

Phil’s recent projects and roles have included design and development of an ultra-low-power gas and environmental monitoring cellular IoT product; design and implementation of secure boot loader and application interface and library for remotely updatable IoT sensor; design and implementation of software for an embedded Linux-based appliance for RF signal distribution. Other previous work has included architecture, detailed design and implementation of extremely low-power wireless product for critical network infrastructure monitoring; threat analysis and security mitigation design for remotely managed autonomous product and associated personal data; design of protocol, algorithms and software architecture for a low-power wireless seismic detector for border security; algorithm design and implementation of 4G signal processing functions; and forensic analysis of bespoke embedded devices.

Phil holds an MEng in Electronic Systems Engineering from the University of York in the UK, is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) and Chartered IT Professional (CITP), qualified as Encase Certified Examiner (EnCE), and is a Member of the IET, IEEE and BCS.
